Rovers defender Paul Downing says he cannot wait to test himself in the Championship with Rovers next season.
The 26-year-old is set for his first taste of football in the second tier after playing a big role in Rovers' promotion from League One during the season just gone.
Paul appeared 29 times in all competitions at the heart of Tony Mowbray's defence and says he is looking forward to the challenge against some "massive clubs."
“It’s going to be my first time in the Championship," Paul said to iFollow Rovers. "There are some massive clubs in there and a lot of quality coming down from the Premier League, as well as the teams which are promoted, too.
“There will be some good days out and it’s where Blackburn belongs at the very least in my opinion."
So what stands out to Downing from the 2017-18 campaign for the defender, who originally joined on loan from MK Dons on deadline day last summer?
“There has been plenty of highlights throughout the season, it’s difficult to really nail down one but I’d say my highlight was probably when I got my goal at Blackpool.
"I don’t get many and that’s probably an area I want to improve, but it was a great night with plenty of fans there.
“But I also remember my first game at Rochdale with a packed stand full of Rovers fans. That was the day which I probably realised just how big this football club is."
