Jack Payne was a regular feature in the Oxford United squad in the first half of this season, appearing 34 times for the club in all competitions after signing in the summer.
The 23-year-old linked up with the U's from Huddersfield Town in the summer, before being recalled by the Terriers in January to make the move to Ewood.
But Payne is certain that there won't be any friendly chat with his former team-mates until after the game, insisting that his only focus is on Rovers.
“It’ll be weird to be up against them," he said to iFollow Rovers when looking ahead to the game. "It’ll be good to see all the lads there and it was the first fixture I looked out for when I joined here.
“It’s strange but as soon as the whistle goes then I get in the zone and their players get in the zone. You can talk and have a laugh after the game as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure they will be the same."
And ahead of the final outing of a promotion-winning season - and a third in his last three seasons, Payne is hoping to send Rovers fans into the summer on a real high point.
“The support has been fantastic from the fans," Jack added. "I remember they travelled all the way down to places like Portsmouth and AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday nights, backed us and then travelled all the way back up north, so they’ve been a real credit to the club all season.
“We’d love to win the league, it’s still possible, but all we can focus on on the day is making sure we get the three points and do our job.
“It’s a great weekend for the fans and all us players. We’re looking forward to it as much as the supporters and it’ll be great to see them all in the town centre to celebrate even more with us."
