Following Derrick Williams' senior debut for the Republic of Ireland earlier in the week, two more Rovers stars were in international action on Wednesday.

Blues skipper Charlie Mulgrew and midfielder Corry Evans featured for their respective countries against World Cup opponents, with the tournament now just over two weeks away.

Mulgrew wore the captain's armband and played a full 90 minutes as Scotland suffered a 2-0 defeat to Peru in Lima.

Meanwhile, over in Panama City, Evans was withdrawn on 82 minutes as Northern Ireland secured a goalless draw against England's Group G opponents.

Michael O'Neill's men will continue their preparation for the new UEFA Nations League and Euro 2020 qualifiers when they face Costa Rica in San Jose on Sunday.

For Mulgrew and Scotland, the next test is a match against Mexico in Mexico City.
