Rovers Ladies will go in search of their second piece of silverware this season when they take on Chorley Women in the final of the Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup this evening.

The game takes place at the LFA County Ground in Leyland, kick-off 7.30pm.

It has been a season to remember so far for Rovers, who lifted the FA Women’s Premier League Cup courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Leicester City last month and they remain on course for a historic league and cup treble.

Gemma Donnelly’s side are two points clear at the top of the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division and they could retain their league title if results go their way this weekend.

Rovers are the most successful team in the history of the county cup, having lifted the trophy 11 times in the last 14 years.

The holders kicked off their campaign with a 5-0 victory away to Blackburn Community Sports Club, before defeating last season’s finalists Fylde 2-1 at the quarter-final stage. Rovers booked their place in a 15th consecutive final courtesy of a 5-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Chorley, who are currently mid-table in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division 1, were given a walkover in the first round, before defeating Blackpool 3-0 in the quarter-finals and then Fleetwood Town 6-0 in the semis.

Come and support the Ladies this evening in their quest for further success.
