It's only the defender's third professional goal, but it was a beauty!

Academy graduate Scott Wharton scored his first goal for loan side Lincoln City this weekend as the League Two outfit went back into the play-off places.

The defender powerfully headed home from a corner to complete the comeback win against relegation-threatened Chesterfield at the Proact Arena and said he was ‘buzzing’ to get the match-winning moment for the Imps.
Blackburn-born Wharton, who has appeared twice for Rovers this term - both in cup competitions - but has found regular football under the watchful eye of Danny Cowley at Sincil Bank.

“I’ve got a big smile on my face and I’m buzzing to win 3-1,” Scott said to Lincoln’s iFollow channel after the game. "We showed great character to come back from 1-0 down.

“I peeled off to the back stick, got up really early and manage to bullet it into the net. You can’t beat scoring in front of 2,000 travelling supporters.
“We work on our set pieces every Friday. It’s one of our strengths. It’s my first Lincoln goal and hopefully I can get a few more.”
