Former Rovers player Simon Grayson will be back at Ewood Park on Thursday night when he takes his place in the away dugout - and Tony Mowbray says the Bradford boss will be desperate to get one over his former employers.

Grayson has past and present links to Rovers, having appeared 40 times in blue and white between 1999 and 2002, whilst son Joe is a regular in the backline in Damien Johnson's Development Squad.

Still based locally to Blackburn, Grayson Snr is a regular at the Lancashire FA HQ when Rovers' Under-23s play to watch Joe take to the field.

Both Grayson and Mowbray are good friends, and Tony is eager to make sure he won't have a noisy neighbour on Thursday evening!

“We have to try and perform on the night in what will be a difficult game," Tony told iFollow Rovers at the Senior Training Centre on Tuesday morning.

"Simon’s in charge at Bradford and lives 100 yards away from me. He knows this club and has his son playing in our Under-23s.

“He’ll be keen for his side to put in a really good performance against Blackburn Rovers, but we all know what’s at stake. Every team we play now will expect us to be full focussed and driven to get the three points."

It'll be 19 days without a game for Rovers, who will no doubt itching to get back to work, with the prize for victory over the Bantams being a return to the top of the table.

Fresh, fit and firing, Mowbray has been impressed by the standards set in training in recent days considering it's been so long without a game for his charges.

“Training has surprisingly been really intense," the boss added. "I say surprisingly because sometimes it’s difficult to keep the group motivated when we haven’t had a game in a while. The group was restricted with five of them away on international duty.

“Training has been of high quality after I gave them the weekend off. It’s time to get down to business and back to winning ways straight away."

Rovers are next in action on Thursday 29th March against Bradford City. Kick-off against the Bantams is at 7.45pm, and tickets can be purchased by clicking here
