Rovers will host the annual evening for the second year running

22 March 2018

If you know a local sports star, top team or successful school that deserves recognition for their on or off-field efforts, nominate them now to give them the chance of lifting a trophy at Ewood Park at the end of the season!

For over 50 years, the Blackburn with Darwen Sports Council Awards have recognised the best of grassroots sport within the borough.

And, for the second year in a row, Northcote at the Rovers have kindly donated use of the Legends Lounge to Blackburn Rovers Community Trust to host the event, which is put on by a team of volunteers from local grassroots sport.

As a result, the date for this year's night of celebration is set for Friday 18th May with a 7.30pm start.

The venue is on the third floor of the Darwen End stand, with ample parking in the adjacent car parks and access via stairs or lift to the lounge when doors open at 7pm.

A cash bar will be available on the night, serving both alcoholic and soft drinks.

Make sure you get your applications in soon if you want to suggest a potential winner who lives, works or plays sport in BwD - there are various categories for individuals, schools or teams who hail from (or serve) our borough.

Nominations are being accepted via http://bwdsportscouncil.wixsite.com/bwdsc2018 until midday on Saturday 31st March in the following categories:

·         Team of the Year

·         School of the Year for Sport (Primary)

·         School of the Year for Sport (Secondary)

·         Community Club of the Year

·         Volunteer of the Year

·         Services to Disability Sport

The winners in most categories progress to the prestigious Lancashire Sports Awards at the end of the year to represent our area against the winners from all the other boroughs in the county.

So get those nominations in now to ensure that the top sporting stars in Blackburn with Darwen enjoy the recognition they deserve.
