Ben pleased with goalkeeper turnout

Goalkeeping coach delighted to see plenty of budding young stoppers participate in his recent sessions

Senior Goalkeeping Coach Ben Benson admits he has been thrilled by the turnout to his recent goalkeeping open sessions.

From Under-7s to Under-15s, a lot of March has seen Ben lay on sessions for a number of youngsters in the last few weeks.

There were over 50 goalkeepers over two sessions at Benson's recent evenings, with his open evenings now in their third year.

And the Rovers coach, who has helped develop current number one David Raya, says he was thrilled by what he saw from the young participants.

"The most pleasing aspect for myself and the staff were the number of new faces in attendance," Benson revealed.

"These evenings have been really well supported and we are very appreciative to both parents and players for there support with them.

"I am always keen to stress that these evenings are of paramount importance to us as a goalkeeping department. It offers local goalkeepers an insight into how we are trying to develop the next generation of goalkeepers at this football club.

"Once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank the players, parents and staff for there continued support and we look forward to welcoming you again for the next batch of open evenings in October."
