Amari'i Bell says he's enjoying the competition for places within the Rovers squad, and insists he'll be ready when called upon by Tony Mowbray.
Bell joined the club from Fleetwood in January and has made seven appearances in all competitions for the Blues this season, featuring in a number of positions.
The versatile defender joined team-mate Jack Payne in meeting EFL Kids Cup participants at the club's Academy on Tuesday, and also found time to speak to reporters about life at the club.
“When I came here I didn’t expect to come straight in the team and take Derrick [Williams'] spot. It does show that competition, he’s a great player," he said.
“I’m trying to stay focused and ready for when my time comes.
“Even though I’ve not been playing I need to stay prepared because there might be an injury or the manager might just chuck me on.
“I've played at wing-back for a few years now and it’s good to be able to play more than one position.
“If the manager wants to play me there then I can do that. You have to have a few tactics up your sleeve for each game.
“If you have to switch it up then we’re able to do that.”
With Rovers not in action until Thursday 29th March against Bradford, Bell admits he's keeping an eye on other results during the international break.
“We now get to see the other teams who haven’t played as many games as us, their results, before we go again against Bradford," he added.
“Every game is important now and we need to make sure we hit the ground running in all of them and look to pick up as many points as we can.”
