Tony Mowbray says he is certain that Joe Rothwell won't be the last young and hungry player to sign for Rovers during the summer transfer window.

Rothwell was Mowbray's first acquisition of the summer, signing a long-term contract with the club after arriving from Oxford United.

Mowbray is known in recent years for bringing through young talent, with the likes of James Maddison - who joined Leicester City for a fee believed to be over £20m - being handed a first team berth as a teenager at Coventry City under the boss' stewardship.

And Tony says the squad will be strengthened further with young and hungry talent during this window, ahead of next season in the Championship and beyond.

“Joe is one of a few young players in their early 20s we might sign and some even younger than that," the boss said before flying out to Austria.
"We want to create competition for everyone in the squad to see if they can get into the team.
"I like good players and sometimes you have to wait. When we sign players in their early 20s, there are no guarantees that they will force their way into the team.
“They need to work hard on the training pitch and strive every day to make sure they get into the starting XI. But they wouldn’t be here if I didn’t feel they have the qualities that I know to get into the team. It’s up to them to show that."
