Rovers star Bradley Dack says a strong pre-season will be gruelling for the whole squad, but it'll set them up for the arduous next 10 months back in the Championship.
The squad return back for their pre-season preparations at the end of the month, with Tony Mowbray taking the players to Austria to put them through their paces.
And Dack, who has experienced plenty of pre-season schedules in his career, knows just how important they are to the whole of the regular season.
“It’s going to be tough so we have to be ready for it," he said. "You have to come in with the right weight and the right shape and fit enough to make sure you hit the ground running.
“Pre-season is massive. If you get a good pre-season under your belt then you’ll get through the season. It’s a massive part of football and you need to make sure you’re ready for the next nine months or 10 months if you get in the play-offs.
“I’m starting to miss the lads now! It’s nice to be back down at the training ground. After the first couple of weeks you do start missing football and I can’t wait to see all the boys before we head away to Austria for pre-season."
