Craig Conway believes the 2018/19 campaign represents a chance for Rovers to build on both the quality in the squad and the momentum created by promotion.
The midfielder played his part as Tony Mowbray's side returned to the Championship at the first attempt, and signed a new at the club earlier this month.
Speaking during Rovers' pre-season training camp in Austria, Conway believes this is an important time for the Blues.
“I think we’ve got a really good base," he said.
“Hopefully we will keep the core of the squad together as we did last year and build on that.
“We have another year’s experience for the younger lads and coming off the back of being promoted and winning the majority of games too.
"Hopefully that will give us a boost come the start of the season. Hopefully we can bring that momentum in to the new season.”
The summer transfer window will naturally see new players brought into the club, and Craig is confident that the togetherness and understanding which was so evident last season will be there again for the coming campaign.
"I’m sure the manager will want to add in different areas but we have to keep working as a squad," he added.
"When the new lads come in I’m sure they’ll get in to the way we work pretty quickly. We’re out here for a week first off which is really good.
"We have six or seven weeks now to build up our fitness and I’m sure we’ll be working hard in the coming weeks.
"Everyone is looking forward to getting started with the games next week.”
