Blackburn Rovers Community Trust are delighted to have claimed the Commitment to Blackburn and Darwen Award at this year’s Hive Awards.

The Commitment to Blackburn and Darwen Award recognises the Trust’s level of support to the borough, including areas such as employment, education and up-skilling opportunities for local people, as well as providing fantastic services in areas such as community engagement, sport and charitable work.

BRCT went up against Bootstrap Enterprises, Secret Santa LTD and Unit 2 Fitness for Women, who all do excellent work in these important areas, for the prestigious award.

The award ceremony, which was held at King George’s Hall, was attended by five members of the Trust’s staff and key figures from Blackburn Rovers Football Club, including CEO, Steve Waggott.

The HIVE is a powerful network of Blackburn with Darwen-based businesses, who are using their collective power to network and raise the profile of the borough as a place to do business.

Their annual awards ceremony celebrated the best examples of excellence within the area over a 12-month period, with around 20 different categories being keenly contested.

Gary Robinson, BRCT's chief executive officer, is delighted the Trust has been recognised for another award in 2018.

“It has been a fantastic year so far and we are over the moon to win the Commitment to Blackburn and Darwen Award at the Hive ceremony.

“I am very proud to leading an amazing team who go above and beyond every single day to fulfil our promise to the people of Blackburn with Darwen. We will continue to do everything within our means to help improve the lives of local people.

“This year we have claimed some great awards, recognising the work we undertake in numerous important areas and we are looking forward to carrying this on. I would like to thank Blackburn Rovers Football Club and other key stakeholders for their continued support.”
