Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has revealed that first team pair Paul Downing and Dominic Samuel are both set to return for Saturday's game at Port Vale.
The duo missed out on last weekend's pre-season opener against Hibernian at Easter Road due to knocks, with Paul picking up a knock during the Austria training camp and Samuel suffering a slight injury to his knee at the end of last week.
And although there is better news regarding the availability of goalkeeper David Raya - who will travel to the Potteries with the squad - it's touch and go whether the Spaniard will play a part at Vale Park.
“We’ll give some players an hour at Port Vale. I don’t envisage anyone playing the 90 minutes, but after Port Vale the games come thick and fast really," Tony said when previewing the trip to Burslem, which kicks-off at the earlier time of 12.30pm on Saturday.
“We have Saturday then Thursday, then Sunday, then Thursday and then Saturday. We’ll build up to play those 90 minutes before long, but at this stage they’re still working on that match fitness.
“I talked to David today and although I don’t expect him to start, we’ll look to get him some game time. He’ll be travelling there with the squad, will do the warm up and see how he does.
“Dominic will definitely get game time and Paul will get game time. They will both be on the pitch having trained fully this week.
“The selection of the team will be reflective of who’s done what work this week and who has a knock or two."
A reminder that the clash at Vale Park will kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday 14th July.
