Craig Conway feels fit and sharp, and now he's eager to get more minutes under his belt as pre-season kicks into gear.
The 33-year-old Scot put pen-to-paper on a new deal with Rovers in the summer and celebrated that contract signing by scoring a superb goal back in his homeland last weekend as the team comfortably beat Hibernian.
He played his part in last season's League One success but now says all the focus is on the new season and aiming to ensure match fitness is achieved ahead of our season opener against Ipswich Town on Saturday 4th August.
“The celebrating after promotion has been done and I think by the end we were all fed up with that!" he said after the weekend win at Easter Road.
"Now it’s just looking forward to getting back into it again, getting back out and playing and taking on some tough tests.
“We normally start with 45 minutes each and I think that is definitely enough for the first game back. I expect the gaffer will up it to 60 minutes, then 70 and then a full 90 as pre-season goes on.
“Everybody looks forward to the games, but it’s the competitive ones that we really look ahead to, especially with us being back in the Championship. There are a lot of games to get excited about, starting with that first game at Ipswich."
