Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has made five changes to the side from last week's FA Cup outing against Hull for the visit of Shrewsbury Town to Ewood Park.
David Raya, Paul Downing, Richie Smallwood, Bradley Dack and Danny Graham all start in the return to league action.
Following injuries to Peter Whittingham and Corry Evans, both which were confirmed by Mowbray at Thursday's press conference, Rovers could potentially be playing a diamond formation with Smallwood at the base, Dack at the tip and Elliott Bennett and Craig Conway on the flanks.
Up front, Graham could well be partnered in attack with Dominic Samuel, whilst new signing Adam Armstrong starts on the bench for Rovers.
For our visitors from Shrewsbury, new signing Luke Hendrie - who signed from Burnley this week - starts on the bench.
