Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has made three changes to the XI to play Rotherham United at the New York Stadium in the first fixture of 2018.

Two are enforced, with Paul Caddis and Craig Conway coming in for duo Ryan Nyambe, who's carrying a knock and only fit enough for the bench, and Marcus Antonsson, who picked up an ankle injury in the draw against Scunthorpe two days earlier.

Also coming into the side is Corry Evans, who replaces Peter Whittingham - who drops to the bench.

Conway's return from illness is timely then, after the Scot missed out on the game against the Iron last time out, however, Joe Nuttall is still yet to fully recover from a virus.

With a couple of senior players missing out, Mowbray has young striker Dan Butterworth to call on from the bench.

Hosts Rotherham make one change, with captain Richard Wood returning to the starting XI and replacing Lee Frecklington, who misses out through injury.

Rotherham: Rodak, Emmanuel, Mattock, Vaulks, Ajayi, Wood (c), Forde, Ball, Towell, Yates, Williams.

Substitutes: O'Donnell, Purington, Clarke-Harris, Ihiekwe, Newell, Cummings, Wiles.

Rovers: Raya, Caddis, Downing, Mulgrew (c), Williams, Smallwood, Evans, Bennett, Dack, Conway, Graham.

Substitutes: Leutwiler, Nyambe, Whittingham, Ward, Tomlinson, Butterworth, Samuel.
