No letting up for the visit of the Cobblers

Williams still has painful memories of the trip to Sixfields just before Christmas

Rovers defender Derrick Williams wants to put things right when Northampton Town visit Ewood Park this weekend.

Williams has been a regular for Rovers this season and was part of the side which were frustrated against the Cobblers in the reverse fixture in December.

But he wants Rovers to show their true colours this time around, with a virus sweeping through the camp not helping the cause for the trip to Sixfields just before Christmas.

"In the game at Northampton I think we had a few players sick, Charlie came off because he was ill, but we still should have won the game," Derrick reflected to iFollow Rovers.

"It was a good point in the end, even though we missed a penalty, but we want to put it right on Saturday and get three points.

“I know the gaffer will be the first person to tell us that every time we play a lower club we need to be on it. He really emphasises that we’re on our game and we’ll be in the right mindset to try and overcome them.

And ahead of a double-header at Ewood, Williams has called on the Rovers faithful to play their part on home turf.

“We want to make Ewood a tough place to visit and the fans definitely help us with that. We need to give them something to cheer about so hopefully we can hit the ground running on Saturday and score a few goals for the fans.

"The atmosphere against Shrewsbury was quality. It really helped us and gave us energy, their support puts us on the front foot."

Can Del and the team continue that unbeaten streak at #OneRovers Day this weekend against Northampton Town?
