Midfielder John Buckley insists the Rovers youngsters will have to do ‘everything right’ in order to progress to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.
Billy Barr’s side face Watford at Ewood Park this evening, kick-off 7pm.
After seeing off Tranmere and Wrexham in the early rounds, Rovers produced a superb performance to defeat Stoke City 2-1 at Ewood Park in round three.
Buckley, who has played every minute in the competition this season, insists Rovers will have to be at their best once again if they want their FA Youth Cup adventure to continue.
“Everyone is looking forward to it,” said the 18-year-old.
“It’s been good preparation in the last couple of days and hopefully we can get a win.
“We’ve watched some clips of Watford and they look a decent side, but if we do everything right then I think we should be able to get through.
“We went out at this round last year, so hopefully we can progress further.
“If you lose, you’re out, so you’ve got to take it seriously and do everything right.
“You know that you’ve got to win, so the preparation has got to be right and you’ve got to do everything properly.”
Having been at the club since the age of six, Buckley insists it is a special occasion to play at Ewood Park and he is looking forward to showing the fans what he can do.
“I’ve been here for quite a while, so playing at Ewood is good,” he added.
“A lot more people come and watch in the Youth Cup, so the atmosphere is much better, and it’s a chance to impress.
“It’s a lot different from league football and it’s a good experience playing at the stadium.”
Kick off is scheduled for 7.00pm at Ewood Park on Wednesday 17th January.
Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for concessions (65+ and ages 17 and under). Season tickets are not valid for this fixture.
