Rovers are delighted to announce that highly-rated young forward Okera Simmonds has today joined the club from Premier League side Liverpool.

The 18-year-old starlet has penned a one-and-a-half-year deal after impressing on trial and will immediately link up with Rovers' Under-23 squad.

A prolific attacker and former England Under-16 international, Simmonds has featured in Rovers' recent victories over both Reading and Watford Under-23s.

With Damien Johnson's side currently top of the Premier League 2 Division 2 table and fighting for honours on three fronts, his signing represents a good addition to the development squad.

Speaking about joining the club, Okera said: "I'm really happy that everything has gone through. I just can't wait to get started fully.

"I'm an exciting forward who likes to beat people and score goals. I like to work hard and do my job for the team.

"I've really enjoyed working with Damien and Dunny [David Dunn] so far, I've already learned a lot, and my long-term goal is to get into the first team."

Everyone at Rovers would like to congratulate Okera on his deal and welcome him to the club.
