Normally it's the players that show off their skills to the fans, but on our visit to Brookhouse Primary School, it was the fans showing off their skills to the players!

Rovers pair Jack Payne and Dominic Samuel went along to help promote the Premier League Primary Stars programme, and while they were there, a special pair of assemblies saw two pupils from each school year demonstrate their ball skills to the professional players.

An entertaining mix of moves saw some fine footwork mixed with some moments of panic for those sat in the front row as a few stray flicks of the ball flew their way!

Having seen what the children were capable of, Payne and Samuel both took the time to show a few of the tricks they can do too, thanks to their years of extra experience and top level training, amazing the young crowd in the process.

There was an educational slant to the trip of course, with each assembly also giving the children the chance to pose questions to the players, using the knowledge they gained to answer a special quiz themed around the pair.

The fun afternoon concluded with a classroom visit, where Jack even volunteered to read a chapter of year three's latest story book to the whole class!

Nick Jackson-Cooney, our Senior Sport and Education Development Officer, enjoyed overseeing the player appearance, explaining:

"We've got a really good working relationship with Brookhouse Primary School, so it was a real bonus to be able to bring two Blackburn Rovers players into the assembly hall to speak to virtually every child at the school.

"We're always very grateful when players go above and beyond to make these experiences extra special to the audience watching, and I hope that Jack and Dominic took as much from it as all the happy and attentive faces we could see in the audience throughout the afternoon.

"Virtually every player in the first team squad and several of the under 23s have all undertaken a couple of appearances each so far this season, which has helped us to bring our players face to face with thousands of current and potential fans in various community settings throughout the campaign."

If your school would like to enjoy the thrill of a player appearance too, enrolling onto Premier League Primary Stars is the best way of receiving a star guest visit. Contact for more information.
