Rovers boss Tony Mowbray was delighted to see Charlie Mulgrew back on both the teamsheet and scoresheet against Oldham on Saturday.
The captain returned to the side following a recent injury and scored his 12th goal of the season as Rovers came from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw at Ewood Park.
Asked about the skipper's comeback and goal after the game, Mowbray said: “We shouldn’t be surprised, I know our fans aren’t!
"We’ve seen Charlie do that very often, he’s scored a few of those this season, and that’s why he’s straight back in the team.
"He’s been injured and missed a few games but he’s straight back in and he’s scored, so we’re delighted with that.
“He’s a massive player for the club. He’s scored some crucial goals this season and he got another for us today which gave us some belief.
"The longer we didn’t score, the more belief Oldham had. As Charlie’s done time and time again this season, he gave us that confidence with his quality and put the ball into the net.
"He pushed us on and we deservedly equalised, but it’s just a bit frustrating that we couldn’t get the win."
“We had some good chances and other times it just wouldn’t fall for us, but it wasn’t to be. We’ll take the point, put it in the bag and move on to Tuesday [against Portsmouth].”
