If you're about to take on your cross town rivals in a huge fixture next week, who do you turn to for tactical and mental advice? How about Rovers' Scottish duo Paul Caddis and Craig Conway turning up in your school sports hall?!

That was the bonus enjoyed by female footballers at Blackburn Central High School this afternoon, as the Rovers pair dropped in on our latest Premier League Girls' Football session.

With BCHS taking on Pleckgate High School - another of our PL Girls's Football outlets - in a key fixture for their combined Key Stage Three age group team, the high profile visitors got involved in a gentle introductory round of matches to assess the playing abilities of the 23 attendees, before issuing some handy advice.

Conway led on by talking about team shape, with Caddis adding the importance of following the manager's instructions whilst ensuring that fun was high on the agenda too at a key development phase in the players' fledgling football careers.

With a question and answer session thrown into the mix alongside the obligatory chance to grab selfies and autographs, it was another afternoon well spent in the community for Rovers' biggest names.

Craig said: “There are more and more girls getting involved in the game and you can see from the turnout that there are lots of girls enjoying their football.

“The ladies game is growing worldwide, there’s a lot more recognition now and it can only be healthy."
