Rovers boss Tony Mowbray agreed that Lewis Travis is deserving of his new deal after the youngster penned a three-and-a-half-year contract to remain at Ewood Park.

Excelling in the Under-23s under Damien Johnson, Lewis earnt his chance for first team action in the last couple of months and hasn't looked back since.

And Tony admits he trusts the 20-year-old to do a good job when he is thrust into first team action.

“We’re pleased. Young Lewis is just forging his way and has made appearances off the bench," Tony told iFollow Rovers.

“He’s shown his composure and his good passing. He’s looked at ease in the team when he has been handed the opportunity.
“He’s had good performance levels for the Under-23s and looks comfortable when he is training and playing with the first team.
“I trust him and I’m looking forward to the future with him. He can play in midfield, he can play at right full back, he can play wide. He’s a good athlete, a good personality and is a real strong individual."
And Tony is pleased to see the youngster throwing himself into scenarios both on and off the pitch.
On it, Travis hasn't been afraid to get stuck into challenges, and off it, Mowbray is thrilled to see him getting involed with the senior squad.
“He wants to play and wants to succeed. He’s a scouser so he’s not afraid of anything. Senior players don’t intimidate them at all and we have no fear about integrating him.
“He has to grasp the opportunities when they come along and I’m sure he has a big future. I look forward to seeing him evolve.
“At this moment in his career he’s happy to get on the pitch and play whenever he can and I’m pleased he will be staying with us."
