Hat-trick hero Jack Vale admitted it was "amazing" to bag a trio of strikes at Ewood Park, as Rovers Under-18s confidently brushed aside Nottingham Forest Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup.
Jack's goals came at crucial times, with two of them arriving in the first half and his third being the killer blow to any chances Forest had of getting back in the tie.
And Vale started off his post-match interview with reflections on each of his goals.
“It’s amazing to get three goals at Ewood. The fans always applaud me at Ewood and it was an even bigger applause tonight.
“I got clipped for the first one but hit it as hard as I could and fortunately it went into the back of the net.
“For the second one, I got in at the back post but got hurt in getting into the mix as well. I hit my shin and banged my head.
“For the third, I turned the guy and just placed it really, it was a neat finish."
Dan Butterworth was the orchestrator for two of the goals, and Vale admits he enjoys playing with the playmaker, who has been involved with a first team squad already this season.
“Me and Dan linked up well. They were two great balls from him and he's someone I enjoy playing with.
“They were coming hard at us in the second half. They are a good side, with a lot of pace. We ended up getting a couple of goals pretty late on to kill them off.
“We’ve come so far as a team. In the Youth Cup we seem to be flying through the rounds. We’ve been lucky to have played at home a lot and we’re really enjoying us.
“We’ve Blackpool at home in the next round and we’ll be hoping to get a win and progression into the semi-finals of the competition."
