Damien Johnson's Development side are back in action this evening against Doncaster Rovers' Under-23s in the Premier League Cup.
Rovers have work to do in the competition having suffered two defeats from their opening two games, against Sheffield United and Everton.
A win will boost Rovers' hopes against a Doncaster side who have also lost their opening two games in the tournament.
Rovers will be aiming to return to winning ways having suffered a 3-1 Premier League 2 defeat to West Ham at Ewood Park last week.
Johnson could make changes for the game, which will be played at Leyland's County Ground this evening.
Joe Rankin-Costello is a doubt, whilst Jack Evans will be missing for several months with a stress fracture of his foot.
The clash could see an opportunity given to some first team fringe players in need of match sharpness, which means the likes of Joe Nuttall, Lewis Travis and Willem Tomlinson could all appear.
The holders of the competition are Aston Villa, who knocked Rovers out on their way to winning the Premier League Cup last season, beating Swansea City in the final.
Kick-off at the Lancashire FA HQ is at 7pm. Entry is free for season ticket holders, otherwise admission is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
