Damien Johnson's Development Squad are back in Premier League 2 action on Monday afternoon when Swansea City's Under-23s make the long trip up to East Lancashire from South Wales.
The Swans sit a point and a place above Johnson's youngsters in the table, and come into the game in 11th place in the division.
The Welsh outfit suffered defeat last time out at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in Premier League 2, but have been successful in their last three away games in all competitions.
But Rovers will have been boosted by the impressive display and victory against Doncaster Rovers in the Premier League Cup last week, a game in which Joe Nuttall scored all four goals in that 4-0 victory.
Speaking of Nuttall, the striker could well play a part in the clash having not been involved in the first team's draw at Middlesbrough at the weekend.
And for that same reason, it's expected that Lewis Travis will see a Development Squad encounter as the perfect opportunity to get more minutes under his belt.
Johnson will have Dan Butterworth back available though, with the attacker missing against Doncaster due to a one-match suspension.
Joe Rankin-Costello has stepped up his return from injury, and could also be named in the squad, but Jack Evans will be missing for several months with a stress fracture of his foot.
The game comes too soon for Jacob Davenport, who suffered an injury setback in recent weeks, whilst Dominic Samuel and Ben Gladwin remain long-term absentees due to knee injuries.
Supporters are welcome to attend the game, which will take place at the Rovers Academy venue in Brockhall Village, kick-off 12pm.
