This is a feature getting to know the new members of the Ladies squad!

Which club did you join Rovers from?

Sheffield FC.

Any jobs alongside playing football?

I work as a Business Development Manager for a technology company.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Bolton, where I’ve lived all my life.

Which team do you support?

Manchester United. All my family are Bolton fans, but I was a little bit obessed with David Beckham when I was growing up so that’s why I support United.

How did you get into playing football?

My dad got me into football. I’m the youngest of two so I think he’d banked on having a boy! And I come from a sporty family who play Gaelic football and sports like that.

Do you have a nickname?

Not really. My dad randomly calls me Betty to try and embarrass me all the time, but that’s about it.

Any pre-match rituals?

The only thing I do is always put my left boot on first.

Favourite pre-match meal?

Usually something with pasta.

Which place do you want to visit abroad?

I really want to visit LA, just to see all the stars in and around Hollywood.

Career highlight – what is your most memorable moment on the pitch?

Playing for Team GB and winning the gold medal, and playing for England up to U23 level.

Career ambitions – What do you want to achieve in the game?

I want to win something significant, like a league title or an FA Cup. A significant trophy.

Who is your football idol? Who did you aspire to be like growing?

Men’s wise, David Beckham. Growing up I was just so obsessed with him. I wanted to be a right winger like him. Women’s wise, Kelly Smith was massive when I was growing up and I always looked up to her and thought I wanted to be that.

Who is the best player you have played with and against?

The best player I’ve played with is Gemma Davidson from when I was at Liverpool. She megged me three times in one training session when I was about 17, so it would have to be her! She was a striker or winger. The best player I’ve played against is a tough one. Alex Greenwood, when she was playing for Everton. She was just really good at full-back and I could never stop her going forward.

What is your star sign?

I’m a Cancer.

Do you have any phobias?

I have a bit of a fear of heights, but I’ll still go on rollercoasters. But if I watch those videos of free runners, my legs will go all shaky.

Do you play any musical instruments?

No, not at all. I’m not a musical person. My dad bought me a guitar and it just stayed sat in my wardrobe for about 10 years!

Do you have any pets?

I don’t, no. My mum and dad were very cruel and didn’t let me have any pets. The closest I’ve got is that my nan had a cat that I was a bit obsessed with years ago.

What is your favourite film?

Because it’s coming up to Christmas, I’m obsessed with the film Love Actually.

 Thanks for chatting, Beth!
