Jack Vale says he can't wait to start another FA Youth Cup journey with Rovers, which gets underway this evening against Gillingham at Ewood Park.
Vale was one of the stars of last season's run, which saw Rovers reach the quarter-final stage of the competition before bowing out against Lancashire rivals Blackpool.
The Welsh starlet, who has represented the Under-23s side at time this season, bagged a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in that run last term, and is hoping to make more memories tonight.
“It’s a great opportunity for me and all the lads. We had a great run last season and want similar this time around," he told iFollow Rovers.
“Last season’s run gave me a lot of confidence and there is a lot of first team staff there. You want to do your best and show what you can do.
“Playing at a big stadium like Ewood, you need to take the opportunity. We learnt a lot from last season’s defeat against Blackpool in the competition. Sometimes you need to lose to learn.
“I got a hat-trick in our run last year against Nottingham Forest in the competition at Ewood and it was amazing. It gave me a taste of things and I want more of those moments and those feelings."
And Vale is hoping that the youngster have learnt their lessons from the disappointment of that game against Blackpool last term.
“It’s a big occasion for us. We want to show everyone what we can do," Vale added.
“Blackpool were the underdogs last season and Gillingham will be like that on Wednesday night. We know we’ll have to work hard to beat them.
“All that matters is that we win. It doesn’t matter too much how we play. We want to win to boost our confidence and our development."
