Rovers are pleased to announce that promising young defender Joe Grayson has today signed a new contract with the club.
The 19-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal, which will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2021.
The Academy graduate, who joined the club at the age of seven, has risen through the ranks and made his first team debut in the 4-1 victory over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
In doing so, Grayson became part of only the third father-and-son duo to represent Rovers, following in the footsteps of dad Simon, who made 40 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2002.
A classy left-footer and set-piece specialist, Grayson can play at centre back, left-back or in central midfield.
Having helped Rovers' Under-23s secure the Premier League 2 Division 2 title last season, the talented teenager has gone on to captain Damien Johnson's side this term.
After committing his future to the club, Grayson said: "It's brilliant. To sign a new contract tops off what has been a great year for me and I couldn't be happier.
"I come into training every day and enjoy it. I obviously made my debut, which was an unbelievable feeling and probably the proudest moment of my life, and now to stay here for another two-and-a-half years is what I've always wanted.
"I've been here for 12 years and when you first join all you think about is playing for the first team. Now I just want to kick on and hopefully make more appearances.
"I just want to keep improving and hopefully get more first team experience - whether that's here or out on loan - but I'll certainly keep working hard every day in training to make that happen."
