Festive family fun was the theme of the night, as over 200 fans attended the first ever Junior Rovers Christmas Party.
The supporters were joined by a host of special guests, as Rovers stars Charlie Mulgrew, Craig Conway, Adam Armstrong, Ben Brereton and Lewis Travis made a surprise visit to Blues, before Santa Claus himself dropped by to hand out some presents to every child.
There was also arts and crafts, Xbox games and children’s performer Bubbles, who combined music and magic, to keep everyone entertained.
The excited youngsters were then treated to pizza, chips and ice-cream, before getting the chance to collect autographs and photos with the Rovers quintet, who proved particularly popular.
Skipper Mulgrew, who has young children himself, was delighted to attend the end-of-year event, saying: “It’s probably not until you get here that you realise how much the kids appreciate it and how much the families appreciate you taking a bit of time out to give a bit back to the fans, so it’s nice to come down.
“It’s nice of the club to put on an event like this and get the kids excited and to bring us along to give a bit back. Santa is there as well, so the kids are having a great time and we’re happy to come along and hopefully add to that.
“It’s important and it’s about creating a culture where we’re all connected – the fans, the players and everybody involved at the club – and I think things like this help it, so we’re more than happy to connect with the fans and little things like this will definitely build that relationship.”
