Tony Mowbray says "whirlwind" Bradley Dack was like a "Tasmanian devil" after the playmaker got back to his best in what was a terrific team performance against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was back in form against the Owls, as he scored one and assisted every one of Danny Graham's trio of goals in the emphatic victory at Ewood Park.
And the boss revealed that a pep talk with the number 23, telling him to get back to doing what he does best, could have been the catalyst for a fine display.
"Me and Brad had a five-minute chat this week," the boss told iFollow Rovers following the 4-2 victory against Jos Luhukay's side.
"I told him the reasons why I signed him and this kid who was like a whirlwind playing for Gillingham, who even though his team were 4-0 down was the best player, tackling everybody in his own box, in the opposition box and scoring goals.
"And that’s what I said to him this week, I need to see this Tasmanian devil tackling everyone, too good, too strong, too fast. And he was back to that today, Brad.
"He would have liked to score one of those himself I’m sure and see one of those shots flying in."
