After taking the tally to seven signings this summer with the capture of Ben Brereton, Tony Mowbray says he's pleased to see plenty of competition throughout the Rovers squad.

Brereton joins Joe Rothwell, Jacob Davenport, Kasey Palmer, Adam Armstrong, Jack Rodwell and Harrison Reed in entering the Ewood Park doors this summer and the boss is pleased to have a number of options at his disposal.

"All we're trying to do is create competition and make sure that when the injuries come along, as they are now, that we have a squad of players where we don't have to dig too deep into the young squad," he told iFollow Rovers.

"I'm just trying to make sure that we have quality to replace quality, so we can rotate quite naturally when we have three games in a week.

"Hopefully all the team will buy into the fact that if they have to sit on the bench some days it's for the benefit of the group and everyone stays fresh and we can hopefully keep playing to the energy levels that we're showing at the moment."
