Rovers are delighted to announce the loan signing of Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed.
The 23-year-old, who becomes the club’s sixth summer signing, will remain with Rovers until the end of the 2018-19 Championship campaign.
A product of Southampton’s prestigious youth system, Reed made his Saints debut five years ago today in a 5-1 League Cup victory away to Barnsley.
His Premier League bow followed soon after, in a 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City in December 2013.
A tenacious ball-playing midfielder, Reed has gone on to make 30 first team appearances for Southampton and gained European experience in the 2015-16 season, featuring in games against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa League.
In order to further his development, Reed spent last season on loan in the Championship with Norwich City, starting 36 league games and scoring his first career goal in a 2-0 victory over QPR.
An England youth international, Reed has represented his country at Under-19 and Under-20 level, and was part of the Young Lions squad which finished fourth at the Toulon Tournament in 2015.
Rovers fans will have an opportunity to give our new signing a warm Ewood Park welcome at tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup second round tie against Lincoln City.
