Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of Jack Rodwell on a deal until the end of the season.

A Premier League title winner, Rodwell will remain with Rovers until June 2019 and is the club's fifth signing of the summer.

The Southport-born 27-year-old began his career with boyhood club Everton, coming through the youth ranks to appear more than 100 times for the Toffees under David Moyes.

He made his debut as a teenager and produced some impressive performances which led to a first senior England cap in November 2011, when he replaced ex-Rover Phil Jones against Spain at Wembley. He would make his first England start three days later against Sweden.

Rodwell continued to progress at Goodison Park and sealed a switch to Manchester City for a reported £15m in August 2012, with Roberto Mancini winning the race for the highly-rated star's signature.

The versatile midfielder would enjoy a two-year spell at the Etihad Stadium, playing a part in City's Premier League title triumph in 2013-14, before making a £10m move to Sunderland that summer.

He struggled to hit the same heights with the Black Cats during his four years on Wearside, but sees his switch to Rovers as a chance to revitalise his career under manager Tony Mowbray.

Welcome to Rovers, Jack!
