Rovers are delighted to announce goalkeeper Andy Fisher has signed a new three-year contract at the club.
The Academy graduate, who joined the club as a 14-year-old, will now remain a Rover until the summer of 2021 after putting pen-to-paper earlier this morning.
Fisher has appeared three times for the Rovers first team so far, with the 20-year-old playing in a trio of Checkatrade Trophy games last term.
Speaking to iFollow Rovers just moments after signing, Fisher is thrilled to continue his journey at the club long-term.
“I’m delighted to sign a new long-term contract. It gives me that security with the club, but that doesn’t mean I’ll take it easy, I have to kick on now.
“The goalkeepers at this club - David [Raya], Jayson [Leutwiler], Charlie [Albinson] and Ollie [Byrne - are all very good ‘keepers. It’s not going to be easy as we all want David’s shirt. There is a lot of competition.
“I feel I’m improving and I feel I have improved every month I have been here. I will keep working hard with the Goalkeeping Coach Ben Benson to continue my development
“The lads have all massively helped me. I’ve been with David for about four years and I like to think I push him on as much as he pushes me on.
“The gaffer said that he believes in me and believes I have a chance to play in his team."
Manager Tony Mowbray said: "I like Fish. I think he's a goalie who keeps the ball out of the net.
"He's got lots of other aspects of his game that he needs to work on, but I think he's got a chance of being a first team goalkeeper at this football club at some point in the future.
"I'm happy that he's signed his deal, I'm happy that he's content, he knows that the manager appreciates his talent and he has to just keep working hard."
