It took Danny Graham three games to get his first goal of the 2017-18 season in Rovers colours.
Fast forward a year and all it took was 20 minutes into the opening game of the new campaign to get off the mark, lashing home from close range at Ipswich Town after capitalising on a spill from home goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski at Portman Road.
The 32-year-old played his part in Bradley Dack's first ever Championship goal, before Tayo Edun's late strike ruined Graham's afternoon in the Suffolk sunshine.
“It’s very nice to get a goal early on into the season, but we’re disappointed by the result as we all feel we did enough to get the win. To see that goal bobble in at the end was really frustrating," Graham reflected after the game to iFollow Rovers.
“There have been a few questions asked about it in the dressing room, but we have to learn from that and prepare for the visit of Millwall next week.
“It’s nice to get a goal on the opening day and the aim for me is to start every game this season. There were question marks about whether Brad could step up, but we all knew he could and he showed that.
“He’s a confident lad and he has so much ability and belief in himself. We have belief in him and want him to keep doing well for Rovers. That will only help me and all the lads.
Once again on the road the Rovers fans were out in force, with over 1,000 making the longest trip of the season south to back the lads, and Danny admits that support is much appreciated by everyone involved.
“It’s an unbelievable following and a great effort from the fans coming down here and getting right behind us, just like they did last season both on the road at Ewood," Graham added.
“Hopefully we can reward them for that brilliant backing and have another really good season together."
