Adam Armstrong says he "can't wait" to run out in front of the fans at Ewood Park again this season.

The striker - who played a key role in the Blues' promotion back to the Championship as a loanee in 2017/18 - re-joined the club on a permanent deal on Monday.

Now, the 21-year-old says he's simply looking forward to rekindling his relationship with the Rovers faithful, with our first home game of the season against Millwall just around the corner.

"I'm buzzing. The first time I came to Ewood was huge. The fans took to me straight away and hopefully I can keep on performing for them," he said.

"It's a really good relationship, we get on really well, the fans have been brilliant to me and hopefully they can help me over the next four years.

"I can't wait for Saturday. I just can't wait to get going again. I know the holidays go quickly and the season comes round quickly, but you miss it when you're away.

"Playing football every day is the best job in the world and I just can't wait to get back out there and start scoring goals."

Armstrong scored nine goals in Rovers colours last term, including three braces and a goal-of-the-season contender against Blackpool at Ewood Park.

He says promotion was vital, both for himself and the club, and is targeting another successful campaign, this time in the second tier.

"Last season was brilliant. It was what I needed in my career at the time," he added.

"I knew it was going to be tough, but for us to get promoted was huge and hopefully we can kick on this season and prove people wrong.

"I think the gaffer's brought in some good players, the team's looking really strong and hopefully we can have a really good season.

"We've just got to do the best that we can and finish as high as we can.

"Personally, I haven't really set any goals, but for any striker it's to get goals again and just keep working hard."
