Tony Mowbray says there was no other option but to make six changes to his XI for Saturday's game at Charlton Athletic.

David Raya, Elliott Bennett, Derrick Williams, Bradley Dack, Craig Conway and Danny Graham all missed out on starting the game, with the latter the only one to be involved in the squad.

And Mowbray admitted afterwards that every alteration to the side had to be made, with fatigue and injuries catching up with his promotion-winning side.

Raya was out with a groin injury, meaning Jayson Leutwiler made his league debut for the club. Bennett (knee), Williams (abductor), Dack (hamstring) and Conway (metatarsal) also had problems, and Tony had no other option but to ring the changes.

“The team have been soldiering on in recent weeks and every change was enforced," the boss revealed to reporters after the narrow defeat to the Addicks.

“I hope that Bennett and Williams will be back for next week but they are carrying injuries and weren’t able to play. It was too much of a risk to play them but we’ll look to get them out on the pitch next weekend.

“Raya I don’t think will play and Dack has no chance of playing. Conway has broken a metatarsal and I can’t see him playing a part next weekend."
