Blackburn Rovers will once again be celebrated as one of the most family friendly clubs in the country after being named as the AmazeRealise Family Club of the Year for Sky Bet League One.

It is the second year in succession that Rovers’ matchday experience has been recognised by the EFL after scooping the Championship prize last season.

Rovers will now go head-to-head with the other divisional winners, Reading (Championship) and Luton Town (League Two), for the chance to be crowned the overall winner of the AmazeRealise Family Club of the Year, which will be announced at the star-studded EFL Awards in London this Sunday.

The League One award comes after the club was recognised for increasing their spending on family-themed matchday activities by 68% in the current season, aiming to provide the very best experience for our supporters and the wider community.

Fresh from being named as the Championship winner in 2017, the club decided not to rest on its laurels and instead sought to improve upon the existing offering in facilities such as the Strikers’ Lounge, GAME Room and Foster’s FanZone, where supporters can enjoy live entertainment pre-match.

New additions to the matchday offering have also included the development of Rover’s Kennel within the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust Family Stand, an improved Halal food offering for the club’s growing BAME support base, the launch of the new 1875 Club and Junior Rovers membership scheme, and increased player interaction throughout the stadium to enhance the overall experience.

Unique features of a visit to Ewood Park that have also been recognised include the chance to write to (and receive a reply from) popular mascot Rover The Dog and opportunities for children to read the team news to the FanZone audience, with activities of this kind all listed in a timetable available via the club’s website and matchday programme.

Meanwhile, the club has made a notable investment this season in commentary headsets for the visually impaired, improved external and internal signage of supporter facilities and ensured that safeguarding training is incorporated as part of the staff induction process, helping all supporters to feel welcome and looked after at every Blackburn Rovers fixture.

Rovers' General Manager, Lynsey Talbot, said: "We are delighted to be named a divisional winner for the second year running and this award is a fantastic achievement for the club.

“After winning the award last season, we were determined not rest on that success, but to enhance our matchday offering further. The introduction of Rover’s Kennel, additional equipment in the GAME Room and Strikers’, creating some magic moments for young fans with the players and a strong emphasis on our junior offering and being inclusive for all, amongst other things, have enabled us to do that.

"Recognition should be given to our sponsors and all the hard-working staff at the club, as this success couldn’t be achieved without them.”

Rovers’ success this season doesn’t stop there, as the club has also been named the North West Checkatrade Community Club of the Year, whilst Bradley Dack has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Season, whilst Dack, David Raya and Charlie Mulgrew have all been named in the League One Team of the Season.
