Richie Smallwood says that helping Rovers clinch promotion with victory at Doncaster tomorrow would be the icing on the cake following a "perfect" debut season with the club.
Smallwood has been an ever-present figure at the heart of the Blues midfield, and has quickly become a favourite among the fans with his all-action performances.
Richie and Rovers know that a win at Doncaster would seal promotion back to the Championship, regardless of other results, and he says it would be the ideal way to end the campaign.
“It’s been perfect really, and hopefully it will be even better come 10pm tomorrow night!" he told iFollow.
"This is a massive club with great facilities and a great manager – it’s given me a platform to put my hard work into practice.
"I think I’ve earned my shirt this season and the manager has shown great faith in me. Let’s get the job done now.
“It’s massive. I want to play in the Championship; League One is a tough league but hopefully I’ll get out of it at both times of asking.
"I want to be playing Championship football, that’s what we all want, and then we can push on from there."
Asked about his high-energy displays in the middle of the park, Smallwood explained how he's managed to combat fatigue and remain fresh as the season has gone on.
“It’s all about managing yourself. Sometimes you feel a bit tired but you give it your all," he added.
"I’ve tried to tailor my training and manage myself in the week, there are a lot of sessions but it’s about knowing your body.
"I’ve been doing a lot of swimming this season and I think that’s helped me; I want to keep myself as fresh as possible."
