Rovers Ladies had to settle for a point as a determined Wolves side held on for a 1-1 draw at Hednesford Town.
The hosts opened the scoring when Andrea Whetton’s cross found the far corner, but Lynda Shepherd secured a share of the spoils by scrambling the ball home from a corner in the second half.
After a scrappy opening, Wolves took the lead on 16 minutes when Whetton’s cross looped over Danielle Hill and went in off the far post.
Rovers responded well and should have been level on 23 minutes when a corner from the right was headed narrowly over by Shepherd.
The visitors came close again when Natasha Flint glided past her marker on the byline, but her low cross went just wide of the Wolves goal.
Rovers made a strong start to the second half, as Saffron Jordan linked well with Shepherd, but she was unable to beat the Wolves keeper.
However, on 55 minutes, the scores were level as Natasha Fenton floated a corner over the keeper and Shepherd was on hand to bundle the ball over the line.
Jordan and Jess Holbrook both went close to a Rovers second, before the best chance to win it fell to Flint, who was played in over the top, but she rushed her shot and blazed over the bar.
The result leaves Rovers third in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division table, seven points behind league leaders Middlesbrough, but with four games in hand.
