Gritty wins the best wins for Mowbray

The boss expects more nail-biting games to come for Rovers fans, with just six games left this season.

Six more 1-0 wins will be just perfect for Tony Mowbray, with the boss admitting those hard fought victories are just as satisfying as the emphatic ones.

Let's be honest, Saturday's display against Southend United wasn't vintage Rovers, who, at times, have completely dismantled sides throughout this season.

A solitary Danny Graham goal was the difference against the Shrimpers, who made the hosts work so hard for those three valuable points.

And boss Mowbray felt everyone played their part in the latest win, especially the supporters, who he was keen to pay tribute to when speaking to iFollow Rovers after the game.

“These wins can be the best ones," he beamed. "It was nervy at the end and I’d like to give credit to the fans who helped us through at times in the second half. They made sure we got over the line. You need the fans to raise the volume in those tight games.

“Together we got over the line and we put the points in the bag and another one’s ticked off. We have to grind them out at times. There will be days where it doesn’t flow.

“The wins have come at impressive rate. Some have been great and some have been tight.

“We said at half time that the game would loosen up at half time. I thought we’d get that second goal with the pace of Armstrong but it didn’t quite happen for us."

Four wins on the spin in something to be pleased with, but Mowbray was quick to admit that the job isn't done yet, with six games remaining to decide Rovers' destiny, which starts at Gillingham on Tuesday evening.

“We’ve 85 points and 25 wins this season but we’ve still not achieved anything," Tony added. "Let’s keep going and keep grinding things out."
