Elliott Bennett hailed a much-needed victory as Rovers went eight points clear of third place with a win over Peterborough United.
A couple of late goals from Danny Graham and then Bradley Dack sealed the points for Rovers, who bossed the second half after being 1-0 down at the break.
But after Dack's equaliser soon into the second half, Rovers went on to add to their tally to pick up three priceless points against the Posh.
“We needed the win. I’m not quite sure what went wrong in the first half, but to be fair to Peterborough they played very well," Bennett admitted to iFollow Rovers.
“We knew it wasn’t good enough in the first half and the gaffer was like what he usually is at half time in staying calm and told us what we needed to do better.
“Attacking the Blackburn End we always feel we have a chance. I remember coming back against Oldham to draw 2-2 attacking that end and I don’t think our character can ever be questioned.
“The kit man actually said to me before the game how we’ve been under pressure since the start of the season because we’re Blackburn Rovers and everyone expected us to be up there at the start of the season."
It's another step closer for Rovers, who know that if results go their way at the weekend and on Tuesday night, a victory at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening could well seal a return to the Championship.
“We just want to win games and are so close to what we want to achieved. After being 1-0 down, it’s a fantastic feeling to win 3-1 and puts the pressure on the other teams around us."
