Goal hero Danny Graham hailed a gritty victory after his header was the difference between Rovers and Southend United at Ewood Park.

Graham's 16th of the season was scored in the second half and sealed the win against the Shrimpers, who played well up in East Lancashire.

It was nail biting stuff in the latter stages of the encounter, but Rovers held on and defended resolutely to continue their charge at the top of the table.

And Danny was delighted to earn a crucial victory in what was a scrappy game at Ewood Park.

“It was a massive win. It was a bit of a stodgy game, we didn’t get going in the first-half but I think we started the second half quite brightly," the striker reflected to iFollow Rovers.

“I had a chance before I scored to give us the lead but it’s a massive three points at this stage of the season and everyone is delighted in the dressing room.

“You could see by the boys’ reactions we know what every three points mean at this stage of the season, everyone is on a high.

"Sometimes you have to grind out your 1-0s and earn a little bit of luck along the way.

“There were a few games earlier in the season where we might not have had that luck but it seems to have come around at a good time for us. The last two games we have defended well but had a little bit of luck along the way."

And now the focus turns to Gillingham away on Tuesday evening, with the games beginning to come thick and fast between now and the end of the season.

“Everyone is delighted and we keep going. We have to settle down very quickly though and go again on Tuesday night," Graham added.
