Richie Smallwood is happy to be back in match action this Saturday following the international break.

Rovers were without a game last weekend due to call-ups, so the midfielder is looking forward to the clash with Rochdale tomorrow afternoon.

Smallwood says the squad have worked hard in training in preparation for the match at Spotland, and having played against Dale last season whilst on loan at Scunthorpe, he knows it will be a tough encounter.

“We had a couple of days break, but we worked hard for most of the week and are ready for Rochdale now," said the midfielder.

“We know how tough it is going to be. They are a good team, especially at home, and we have some tough games coming up, so need to start well here.

“Rochdale beat Scunthorpe last year and they were totally dominant, so I know it won’t be easy and we'll have to be ready to put up a fight.

“We were really confident and on a really good roll, but they just totally dominated us on the day and they were really strong, so I’m expecting something similar.

“We just have to match them."
