We are short on numbers

Ahead of tomorrow night's Ewood Park clash with Rotherham United, boss Tony Mowbray admits his squad is down to the bare bones.

Rovers will be without six first team players for the visit of the Millers, and although there are signs that the strain on the treatment room is easing, none of the players will be back in time for Tuesday's game.

Ryan Nyambe (ankle) is closing in on a return to action, but is more likely to feature in Friday's Under-23 match against Cardiff City.

But Scott Wharton (ankle), Craig Conway (hip), Rekeem Harper (hip), Ben Gladwin (thigh) and Darragh Lenihan (foot) remain absent.

"The only one that could potentially be added would be Nyambe," said the manager on Monday. "He has been out on the grass for the last few days.

"I think he needs a game. He won't play for the 23s this Monday night but there's a fair chance he'll play for them on Friday night.

"So it is very much where we are. We are short on numbers. When you think we are without Rekeem Harper, Ben Gladwin, Craig Conway, Ryan Nyambe, Scott Wharton, and Darragh Lenihan it leaves us very short.

"Young Lewis Travis was on the bench at the weekend, Joe Nuttall came with the group. I don't see that as a negative because they are young lads who have got real potential and somewhere along the line if we do pick up injuries, those lads will get an opportunity to play."

Tickets for Tuesday's match are currently on open sale, with prices from just £18 for Adults, from £11 Seniors/18-21yrs, from £6 for Under-18s and from £4 for Under-12s.
