Rovers welcome captain Charlie Mulgrew back for tonight's game against Scunthorpe United.

The 31-year-old missed Saturday's 3-0 victory over Rochdale with an ankle injury picked up on international duty with Scotland and the defender comes in for Paul Downing, who drops to the bench.

Mulgrew's return is one of two changes to the side that won at Spotland, with 17-year-old Rekeem Harper, who joined on a season-long loan from West Brom on deadline day, handed his Rovers debut in place of Craig Conway, who misses out with a hip injury.

Richie Smallwood, who opened the scoring at Rochdale on Saturday, spent the first half of last season on loan at Scunthorpe, making 19 appearances for the Iron.

And there's a familiar face in the Scunthorpe side, as former Rovers youngster Josh Morris, who made 22 appearances in blue-and-white halves, starts for the hosts, who he netted 20 times for last season

SCUNTHORPE: Gilks, Townsend, Wallace, Ojo, Madden, Morris, Bishop, Novak, Holmes, Sutton, McArdle (c).

ROVERS: Raya, Caddis, Ward, Mulgrew (c), Williams, Evans, Smallwood, Harper, Bennett, Antonsson, Samuel.
