Damien Johnson's development squad will be out to impress once more when they take on Wigan Athletic in the first round of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup this Monday night.

The young Rovers have been in outstanding form at the start of the 2017-18 season with three impressive wins from their opening three Premier League 2 league games and they'll be looking to continue that against the Latics tonight at the County Ground, Leyland.

Johnson is expected to go with the same squad that has served him so well in the early stages of the campaign. It is one that is on a high after several made their senior debuts in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Stoke City Under-21s last week.

With seven goals to his name this season, and fresh from his PL2 Player of the Month nomination, Joe Nuttall is likely to lead the line once more, whilst the rest will be keen to catch the eye of the watching manager once more.

Rovers reached the semi-final stage of the competition last season, going out to Fleetwood Town on penalties after the match at Ewood Park ended 1-1. Wigan were knocked out by Fleetwood in the second round.

Kick-off at the County Ground, Leyland is at 7.00pm. Rovers season ticket holders can see the game for free on production of their Season Ticket card. General admission prices are £3 Adults and £1 Concessions.
