After making his debut earlier this month, Paul Downing is ready to make the most of his next Rovers opportunity.
The loan signing from MK Dons impressed in Rovers' 3-0 win over Rochdale, standing in for the injured Charlie Mulgrew at Spotland.
But with the Rovers captain now fit, Downing is happy to bide his time, knowing that there'll be plenty more chances for him as the season progresses.
"I'm hoping for more chances in the coming weeks," said the 25-year-old. "There is a lot of football to be played.
"I'm just making sure I'm ready when I'm called upon again.
"I wasn't expecting to get in there early and show the fans what I am capable of.
"I'm hungry, I've had a good pre-season so I'm looking forward to the season and hopefully I can play a part in a successful season for Blackburn.
"I've just got to stay patient, work hard in training, and try to be ready when I'm next called upon, then hopefully I can put in a similar performance like I did against Rochdale."
